The Brauneck belongs to the Bavarian Pre-Alps and, together with the Achselköpfen, forms the Benediktenwand mountain group. The peaks of the Bavarian Pre-Alps barely rise above the 2000 m mark and only occasionally show pronounced limestone rock faces.
Paragliders and hang-gliders find their Eldorado on the Brauneck due to the usually very good thermals and the optimal take-off and landing conditions.
